The Sahrawi people

Danielle Mitterrand is an honorary member of the International Observatory of the Referendum in Western Sahara, as part of the French delegation. She denounces human consequences resulting from unachieved decolonisation in Western Sahara and has participated in the creation of a Western Sahara Vigilance Committee while supporting imprisoned democrats.
In the field of health, education and agricultural development, we take action in favour of refugee populations and to promote human rights education.
We often address the Human Rights Council in Geneva and New York so as to denounce hindrances to the peace plan and acts of violence on populations.
Until now, the United Nations are still involved on the issue: for example in 2008, Sahrawi lawyers spoke in the Human Rights Council to explain the situation of their people.
